Anyone heard this story? The video is 7 minutes long. Arlington ISD contracted a local construction company to dry out one of the high schools that was damaged from pipes busting in the great freeze. They are refusing to pay him and basically saying they don’t have to. Anyone have additional info? I grew up in Arlington and this construction company has a good name. I feel like there is more to the story but maybe not…

Wow, that really sucks. And Lord knows I've given PLENTY of my tax dollars to the AISD through property taxes, for 30 yrs.

Wow. RJ Construction has a good name. AISD should be ashamed but sounds like they couldn’t care less. I hope he gets every penny and then some.

No I actually stopped working for Robert in December of 2020. I got to busy doing my own thing! He told me about it when saw him at high school graduation party for our boys in May. I honestly didn’t think AISD would have paid him a total of zero by this point. School districts are slow to pay but there’s more to it than that obviously

As an official TFF education hater, I am not surprised by this

So if AISD takes the position they don’t have to pay contractors because “they are the government,” other jerk districts may do the same. Then they won’t be able to find people that will fix stuff for them. This stuff works both ways.

Hopefully there is more to the story from AISD as to why they are refusing payment. If not then this should be criminal. Like fraud as they never intended to pay. There are contractors sitting in jail for taking people's money and running and the same should be applied to people who have work done and refuse to pay.
