Have any of you owned or used a Daiwa Procyon AL? No one near me has one in store to fondle. Its a little more than what I wanted to spend but the only bad reviews seem to be the person is stupid, not a problem with the reel. I may try to do some inshore in the future so being able to handle the salt is a plus.

Has all the magseal and whatnot people seem to want.

I've looked at them but couldn't really justify the cost over the BG,which is also rated for saltwater. If you just want to spend more by all means go for it.....In my humble opinion Daiwa is the best value available, most reels equivalent are at least twice the coin.

It’s lighter, smoother, and aluminum. Looked at both today.

I don’t want to spend more money, but I feel I may regret not spending the extra later. My only problem is I can’t find a parts list for the AL Incase I have issues, only the LT model.

Also can’t find a bad review on the Procyon AL, the only thing I’ve found is people too dumb to figure out how to swap the handle over. One guy had wind knots and swapping to another line fixed it. I wanted to spend less but reviews on cheaper reels make me weary to buy them.

I love my Daiwa bait casting reels! I will use them as long as they keep building great reels! But for spinning reels I love the Shimano reels. I have several! The one hand casting of the quick fire and the two handles on the Dyna balance keep me coming back. I’ve been using them for years and have reels over 25 years old still going strong. I know it wasn’t the topic but hands down a super spinning reel.

Now you've changed the game. If you are wanting to increase the budget, then you need to evaluate the other brands.

Basically, all the $100 reels are the same. All the $150 reels are the same, and so on. Some have features different from others, but still basically the same quality.

Your original post was for an inexpensive reel. Buy one, or buy a more expensive reel.

Get off the computer and go fishing !!

For me, and I am relatively well off financially, the last three spinning reels I have bought have been Revo X30. No issues. Certainly not for $100 per.

I'm laid off I fish most days...lol

Everything I looked at didn't feel like it was worth $100. I don't want to spend more I can't really, but I'm not going to buy something I don't like either

i just picked up a Penn Spinfisher and really like the reel, but having a hard time matching a rod to it. had a LaCroix 7' that felt good, but broke after about 30 min of use. have a castaway 7' now, but it's really more like a 6'6" because the butt is so long. anyway, back to the reel. it's more than $100, but is sealed saltwater safe and very smooth.

Don't worry about a parts list for a Daiwa, the parts are not available! Took 8 months to get parts for 2 reels and over a year for the 3rd one..... barf
