Fished FCL yesterday from daybreak until 2:30. Was hoping for more clouds, but they pretty much died off around 10:30 when it really started heating up. When I got back to the ramp at 2:30 there was only one truck left in the parking lot, so he was the "Last Man Standing". I saw a "tricked up" Johnboat boat heading in, so decided to wait and talk to him...it turned out to be Zane (aka Johnboat on the Forum) We told lies for 10 or 15 minutes b4 heading for the a/c. Really nice to meet him ! Now to the fishing...water temp when I was heading in showed the surface temp to be 99.8 degrees on my Garmin unit. Tried several old spots I hadn't fished in a while...nothing but dinks in the reed beds, but hit gold deep in the trees & a few other areas. Found a new colony late in the day that was loaded with big red ear, so that alone made the trip worth it. Ended up with 2 catfish & around 180 sunfish. Attached is a 12 or 13 minute video that I took b4 it got too hot. I did get one of the catfish captured on the Go Pro just for Donnie (aka catcrew) ..Also, they are starting road work at Oak Thicket, so it will probably be closed at that ramp for a few weeks...FCL 9-7-21

Thanks all...Leo...Of course they are not all that big. I get very selective when editing. The majority of the sunfish I am catching right now are in the 5-8 inch range.

I fished today. There were a few boats out on the water but not many. I did not start until a little after 7 and had to get off the water by 12 to get back to Katy. Anyway I decided instead of going to my usual haunts I would look for some new areas. I found the gills hitting pretty consistent and I fished with a gulp alive maggot which they gladly munched on. Quite frankly I really don't think any of the small gulp alive products are a bad choice. They always seem to hit whatever I throw at them. Most of the fish were in the 6 to 7 inch range which is what I have experienced my last couple of times out. The cool morning was quite enjoyable and gets m thinking that bass fishing is just a month or so away.
