Well, with today being the official or unofficial end of summer depending on how you look at it, I hit the water early this morning with my baby girl Sam. Got some good bait and got stabbed by a tiny little channel cat that got caught in my net. I said a few things I can't repeat here and I got the little wiggler untangled and threw him back. We headed out, it was still dark and we decided to hit the cove behind the marina. We started soaking baits and I was enjoying my coffee while it was still warm. We started to see the first colors of the day. First red then orange the pink and purple. The best time of the day is that few minutes right before the sun comes up. We were sitting in about 6 feet of water and casting baits in as deep at 10 feet and as shallow as 4 feet. Number 1 gets smoked! Sam grabs it and before she gets it out of the rod holder, I see the tail slap the water. She starts reeling and it was running right at us. She thinks its a small fish until it gets close enough to think better of it and decides to take off away from the boat. Then she knows she's got a tiger by the tail! She says "better get the net!" I did and we baoted him. Big head for a 24. Still had some weight to gain.

After that we were getting played with by the gar and the turtles. We picked up and moved. Never did mark any fish where we could drift on 'em. Tried anchoring in a couple other spots and found some decent eaters which was good because we were sort of on a meat run today. Got three nice 5 - 6 pounders for supper and them Sam hooks into another nice fish, about 13 pounds to round out the morning. We headed home with supper in the cooler and a couple nice ones on the day. Lake was just starting to get busy when we pulled into the slip.

Another great morning on Lavon...

Winning!!!

You are indeed a catfish machine!, Tim!

I was thinking about going myself today but decided to wait and avoid the drinking music playing masses. I hope it wasn’t too bad on the water.
