Ive tried a few different ones out there and I use 30 pound test Power Pro in the bright Yellow and depending on the lure and water conditions I use about a 8 foot leader of either mono or floro in anywhere from 10-16 pound test. I use the Grigsby knot to attach them together. I've also been accused of using whale rope in the past also but I still get bit and by my share of bigguns.

I know the OP has made his decision, but I want to toss out the Berkley X5.. really smooth braid, casts like a dream.
