Texoma has had them for a long time now. It's doing just fine.

I am not worried about Zebra Mussels but the Giant Salvania is a different story much more potential to ruin a good fishing lake.

If the lake is full of them one thing is certain, th water quality will improve. While they are a pain for dock owners, water intakes and often fishermen it seems the fishing improves after tgey have been there a bit. They also seem to go away after a couple years.

A very clear lake is not generally considered the best fishing habitat as there is not enough food to support the bait fish. That is the reason pond management often includes fertilization which increases the small organism growth. Either too little or too much is not a good thing.

Not good for native zooplankton and mollusk populations. I think buffalo and common carp will eat some of them. Might help Bridgeport's small mouth numbers and size.

I fish that lake 1-2 times per week year round... I have not seen any zebra muscles. After that article came out I started asking some of the other regulars, none of us have seen any. You'd think if a lake is โfully infestedโ at least some of the fishermen would have seen them.

They have left most waters in better shape after they run through the lake. As for Bridgeport the bass fishing out here is pretty damn good. You better have some weight if you want to win a tournament here. Up until August you needed 20lbs or better. Spring into summer there were a bunch of 25lb bags. The water quality out here now is excellent.

Caught a few zebs when they attached to lines. Caught a glob of them on Austin last time out. Georgetown is full of them. When the lake dropped 14' last year, you can see their shells on all the trees and rocks.

Its getting more lakeside development than I wanted to see but still pretty rural. We now have a ton of wakeboats and such too out here.
