Weird looking. Must be from the "Oma" side of the lake.

Gold eye. I have caught them in the past below the Texoma dam.

Hate to tell you, but the Texas record goldeye was only 17.50 inches and 2.31 pounds. Very well done to your FIL.

When I caught them in the past, I was using a double white flee fly set up below the dam when they were releasing water.

I've caught several while fishing for bass. They put up a decent fight while jumping several times. Slimy too. Always wondered if I put one on a big hook and free lined behind the boat while bass fishing if a striper would eat it.

We called them silversides growing up. We use to catch them all the time in creeks and ponds off the Red River in Northeast Texas. Believe it or not they are decent tasting, just full of bones

Reminds me of a freshwater version of the Ladyfish we catch on the florida coast.

Goldeneye , some of the best blue cat bait you can get your hands on.Everyone I've ever caught ended up as cut bait with a big ole circle hook in it.
