60-80% of jobs are had through networking. They are not advertised. This exactly. Look at this from the hiring manager's perspective, they don't 'want' to sit down and look through a stack of resumes. They want it done as fast as you want hired. I would say, in just about every single circumstance that I've encountered regarding hiring, if someone was recommended (or at least brought up) before doing outreach, that person was generally considered top of the list to vet first. People have to realize that once a job gets posted online, there is usually someone already in consideration, and as an applicant you will have to measure up without firsthand discussions or momentum on your side. If the other individual is in anyway qualified, that hunt is a done deal. Applicants cannot compete with that since there just isn't any hope in doing so. That's why I suggest reaching out to anyone they can from college, because not only do they always have contacts, they're usually good contacts, and often very relevant to the degree held. It is simply stupid to not at least attempt this route first.

He just sent me text said he going to keep looking online .He thinks he going find one to start him at $100,000 a year I think he going to keep milking the hind teet With out an advanced degree, Law Degree, MBA from very prestigious school, Masters in Engineering of some sort, 100 K out the door is a pipe dream. I know for a fact Tom Thumb is hiring managers of all sorts. I think they start about $30K but they have a program that fast tracks to Store Director.

Math majors can do it, but they are few and far between. I have two friends that are both math majors and they made that out the door, plus one got a signing bonus. No experience other than an internship a couple of years back. One works for a defense contractor, the other is a data scientist. Neither have an advanced degree, although the one working for a defense contractor was a double major...math and accounting, or business management (I am not sure).

Starting salary = level of degree x field of study x quality of school × interview skill. If any of those variables is a zero....

Shoot me a PM if you are serious. My firm is hiring. It’s a big firm with some of the best benefits out there. He won’t be making 100k off the street but can get there if he works.

A degree with no internship?
Shows a serious lack of ambition…

Industrial trades are labor leaders right now ,electronic Instrumentation, welders and electrician all start out between $80-100K a year with a lucrative benefit package, Process Tech starts out about $130K. Best places to work are oil Refineries and Petroleum Chemical plants.

Move to Odessa - one of the big mud companies is hiring about 20 new people. Company truck and everything. Can't find enough help. But again, you have to move to Odessa which is a whole other world.
If I was a young cat, with a good back and no wife, I'd be sleeping in my truck out in West Texas or New Mexico until I got hired in the oil business.
FAA flight controllers are in high demand.
Lots of jobs if you look hard enough.

I always hear that a recent college grads will take anything but in reality they want a job in an office and not an outside or warehouse labor job. Or they want too much starting money because they have a degree, but no experience.
Yep, I hired a college grad fresh out of college. First week I took him on a plant tour. He asked me why the General Manager was wearing jeans and a pole shirt and not a suit. I said because he spends time in a dirty plant. The next day he quit and said he wanted a coat and tie job and he thought we did not dress professionally. I told him that we explained to him in the interview that he would be spending at least 50% of his time in the plant.

Fed Ex Express is hiring in Garland for Couriers. The position is listed as part time but apparently they're so short you can pick up overtime when you want. I haven't gone over the full benefits package yet, but from what I've read it's supposed to be really good.
Challenge Accepted. 1st ID 1/26 Infantry OEF XI
