Somewhat unrelated but I saw a billboard in Mt Pleasant advertising jobs at Pilgrims Pride for up to $19.95 hour.. Seems like we have already passed the $15 hour living wage panacea.

Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Management, or Entrepreneurship? Which emphasis? That may help with opportunities.

I always hear that a recent college grads will take anything but in reality they want a job in an office and not an outside or warehouse labor job. Or they want too much starting money because they have a degree, but no experience.
As for the OP about every Amazon warehouse in the country is usually hiring. They start at 15.00 an hour and one can advance in the company if they work hard and are dependable. UPS and FedX are usually hiring for driver and warehouse positions. We have guys out here that are fence builders that can't get help and pay from 18 to 22 an hour. There are lots of jobs.
Retirement best job ever.

I don't get it, maybe its the degree, because Labor and Trades are in short supply.
I have two recent college grads working for me. They have both told me that the majority of their friends that went to college have not found jobs and that they are happy to be working here. Either their friends are very picky or don't need to work would be my guess.

my 24 y/o nephew graduated college with his Bachelor's degree in business and now is looking for any job . Where are these worker shortage jobs? He has been applying and still no call backs he can possibly relocate he is in Garland Tx. right now. He is willing to do any thing to get 40hrs a week. TIA I have to admit I am ignorant when it comes to what type of work does someone with a Degree in Business look for? Some business management position? I don't know. Spent my whole adult career in the Engineering world.

60-80% of jobs are had through networking. They are not advertised. 4-6% of the jobs are very high demand. The employer may create a position for a qualified applicant in this small area.. This area includes the skilled trade jobs. Skilled trades are really hurting for qualified applicants.
The rest of the jobs, around 20%, are filled by advertised openings.
Job seekers counting on landing a position by applying online are the toughest to land. They are HIGHLY competitive. Unfortunately they don't teach how to land these jobs in most college programs.
If he's willing to work for less money and better benefits Homeland Security is on a hiring binge. He would likely start as a GS7-9 with a degree and no experience. At least that is what they offering young people leaving the military. Homeland Security is a 20 year old Federal Agency, so a whole bunch of their workforce is retiring.
The bottom line is you can't want the job more than he does.

Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Management, or Entrepreneurship. Human Resources also falls under a business degree.
I don't know a marketing major out of work. E-Commerce keeps those folks working.

Tell him to contact any previous professors he had that he likes. Talk, talk, and talk some more. Talk to everyone he can. Not even joking, that's usually how the desirable jobs are found. Quit wasting 90hrs a week writing resumes and cover letters -- they won't work. But you get a lead on someone within the company? That's something different. Hiring managers will ALWAYS consider someone who's name was brought up without looking at a resume, it's just human nature.
