Try going to this site, it has information on Packery Channel, Bob Hall Pier, Port Ararnsas Jetties, and other spots in that area. www.CorpusFishing.com

Today, when I took the pic, I caught a tiny red, missed a big trout, and caught another one these things: Someone told me they were whiting, but they look like tiny amberjacks! Anyone know what they are? Nobody was having any luck catching anything. The water is real mucky, but you can see green water real close.. I want crevalle and kings to come in! I bought some BIG lures especially for them! P.S. That photo is IN the channel! It was a lot worse on the surf side.

Yeah, teethy. And snappy little bugers. Ripped into my silver spoon. Are these bluefish the same as bluerunners? Are these blue's a good bait for catching anything??

They are not the same as blue runners. I suppose you could use them as cut bait, but most people eat them. The guys on the east coast catch them alot. You are lucky to catch one. I know they are out there, but I don't know how common it is to catch one around here. I believe they prefer cooler water temps.

About the only thing I have found blues good for is grinding up for chum, or if shark fishing, cut off the tail about a half inch up from the fork. Bleeds like a king.
I told my "X" she was fat...she said she was "big boned", told her I had never seen a fat skeleton...hence..my "X". Now, I fish, therefore I eat.

It's a bluefish. It's oily and good for bait. You can eat them grilled if you have no other fish in the freezer, but they don't make my top ten as table fare. They do have nasty chompers.

I have caught a few blues off of Bob Hall pier. A lot of folks do eat them, and yes they are oily, but they are fun to catch. I caught mine in mid to late October. I wish there was more of a run down along our coast than there is. JMO.
