I'm looking into getting lithium for a new boat project. I'm going to be running a 24v minnkota terrova. Battery space is very limited so I was thinking about using the single 24v 50ah battery from Dakota Lithium.
Does anyone have any experience with these batteries? I can't decide if 50ah is going to allow me to run all day or if I would be better off going with 2 12v 100ah for my trolling motor. Like I said, Space is an issue.

Y’all know that you can build that battery for about $100. Alibada. 16 40ah 3.2 volt cells is around $30-$40. The case cost more than the actually batteries.

The SOK batteries have new grade A cells (not cheap recharged and refurbished cells)—add $400 to the above estimate.

They also have a really high quality battery management system, good over current protection, and low temperature shut down protection; and high quality wiring and connections.

Go ahead and add $400 to make those yourself.

You could probably make it in the same quality for around $900

Talk to David at Shut up and Fish --- I purchased batteries from him. it was a tight fit, but was able to put 3 12v 100AH batteries in the same space as 2 12V AGM125AH batteries.

2 x 12V 100 AH batteries for a MinnKota Ultrex 80lb, and 1 x 100 AH battery for 3 x Humminbird Helix units and Mega 360.

Been working great with no problems.Fast recharge with a MinnKota charger.

It’s not rocket science. It isn’t that hard. And NOWHERE near as expensive as you think. I’m doing the same thing in this 2021 Bronco I’m building for SEMA. I can hide “cells” in all the nooks and crannies. I’ll have the equivalent of 4 group 31’s and they will be completely hidden.

That “$900” you came up with is probably closer to their profit. roflmao

Only thing I’ll add, you’ll need a 24v charger and if yours happens for break, you’re not finding one at Walmart for the replacement.

Good point. I hadn't initially thought of that, but I'm okay with that.
I'm just curious how much run time I'm going to get out of a 50ah. I run on 7-8 power the whole time and use spot lock frequently. Would hate to spend the money on a 24V 50ah if it won't last.

Another advantage of the SOK batteries is serviceability.
They have a strong reliability reputation, but you can open them up and replace cells if needed.

Don’t run a single 24v battery. Unless ur buying 2 of them as if it goes out ur done for the week. I always push individual batteries over 1 as u can swap a wet cell in a pinch to get by

Is it a LiPo4 battery? Cause I’m pretty sure iron phosphate creates a lot of heat in the batteries

2 12v 50ah BattleBorns. You can use a regular charger. My buddy runs those and goes 3 days without charging on a flat bottom.

Look at GYLL, 12V 100AH Lithium for $590.00. I’m running Livescope and (2) Lowrance units off it and it never drops below 12.3 volts based on a 8-12 hour fishing day. I’m running wet cell for the TM right now, 24V system, and considering replacing them with the GYLL Lithium’s as well.
