I cannot stress enough the importance of sharpening hooks, I sharped many times each trip.. If you are not sharpening, you are missing out on many fish..

Launched at 3pm at Dove ramp, rounded the island and went out into the deep. When I came off plane I was in 37ft of water and the screen was showing allot of fish. I moved towards the drop and stayed in this configuration all the way to sunset. Started initially with a larger cordell spoon, and upgraded to the flutter spoon. Fished this for a bit, and was seeing tons of fish. With the opportunity to catch many fish I rigged two rods with a heavy white jigging spoon, and worked two rods for the rest of the day. At the end I called over a usual suspect, and when they came over the fish stopped biting. But my redneck thumper battery also died. Rather than listen to the thump sound, I went by my daughters room and the song she was listening to was the song I put on repeat. Basically listened to the same song for 4 hours. In a nut shell, I stayed up on the top of the drop and casted into deeper water. Wore myself out running two rods, it's a non-stop fun/chaotic way to fish. When one rod is sinking to the bottom, I would fish the other rod. Caught many 14" fish today, but some small fish as well.
All released to fight another day.

The two jigs I used were gifted to me by a fisherman last year. They are heavy, and fall fast. I didn't edit the video, it is in the raw. You can dig into the video and see what I am doing. Only one hickup, I got one rod into the trolling motor. That was a birds nest, but all was recovered.

Baits used today, do not know the manufacturer but I was impressed. I did replace the hooks with an upgraded hook.

Good to run into you again. We did real good out on Murrell last night. We only moved 100 yards for most of the evening. The graph was lit up all evening. We left them biting there to go scout out the island. We caught a few shorts there just east of the island. Then heard you holler and thought you had broke down out there. I had forgotten about that one hump out there where you were at.

Pulled an all night fishing marathon to fish the moon. Sandbass fishing is excellent, and bass fishing was broken. The night bite was rough, although I had fun. Launched about 4:30pm and headed out east of the island and found fish off a drop that I have not fished. Ran two rods again which was was fun, ended up playing Orange Blossum Special non-stop. Basically a repeat of yesterday. Picked up one of the largest sandbass that I have caught this year on Grapevine. When that died down at 7:30pm I headed into the Scotts Landing marina area, was planning on fishing this area overnight. Heard some music at Big Daddy's, so I called my better half to see if she wanted to come out. We had a really nice bite to eat on the upper deck of the eating area, the moon was bright and the wind was cool. We had a dance, and someone took our picture as we were cutting a rug. Really made the evening. I basically practiced my casting overnight, and once the sun started to rise the bass bite kick started. I caught sandbass near rock ledge on a 3xd crankbait, as there is allot of bait in that area. About 9am I met up with Mr. "B" and had a quick chat, but I could tell I was fading. I did get a two hour nap from 12am-2am which really helped. As I was heading to dove I stopped near the island and the sandbass were there, caught several before leaving. I saw a boat that I recognized, I met a couple who recently purchased a boat but did not know much about the lake. I helped them with some tips back months ago, and we crossed paths occasionally on the lake. I found him and asked if he would like to go out and catch some fish.. Put him on some structure waypoints which will help him in the future, and also had a good visit catching fish. Really enjoyed seeing him catch some good sand bass. Mr. "C" was grateful, and I told him to come and check with me if he sees my boat. He is a really nice man, and has even a nicer better half. Fish have been in the south side of the lake north east of the island for a couple days, and the afternoon bite has been really good. I do not know about the other areas of the lake, but several people have said they are catching fish at Murrell. I cannot verify this, as I have not been there lately.

Magnum Sandbass for GV, If I would have held it it would have been close to 16"

A picture that was taken of me and my better half cutting a rug, was taken from one of the Cougars that was prowling the scene.

My only catch on grapevine this morning. Thought I was getting into them off meadowmere but they moved fast after hitting the surface for a few minutes

Hit Murrell - east point. They were stacked in there pretty good the other day. 22ft to 25 ft range. just search around the area with your graph and you should run into them.
#4 and #7 are the areas we caught them.

Launched at 4:10 and fished for the green fish until about noon. Pretty good bite today once I found them, deep. When the wake boats started getting silly I headed over to Murrell point, but I didn't see anything that I liked. Headed over near the Island area and found some fish, they were moving thru pretty quickly. I caught quite a few in spurts, then it would be quiet. Ran into one of the usual suspects that I have crossed paths with last year, we caught a few and then it got quiet. I stayed out deep, and he located them just east of the island.. He got my attention with his horn, and I went in to a good amount of fish. Caught some fish, but it was sporadic, as they were moving thru the area pretty fast. Was a good day, and if your patient you can pick up some fish. Not one of those epic days, but with all the wake boats I pulled the plug and came home to enjoy a nice adult beverage.

Caught some fish deep on a carolina rig. Only bummer of the day, I had to be a little rude to two guys in a small aluminum boat that were trying to drive over my line while I was bass fishing. I really do not like to get onto someone, but sometimes you have to draw the line. Caught some pretty nice crappie just east of the island on the drop, found some small brush right near the drop that had fish.

Well...... I launched at 5:45am and basically practiced casting bass lures until lunch.. Brutal day bass fishing, caught fish but it was a grind and i was fishing "Deep". Changed gears and went looking for some sand bass, ran into one of the usual suspects from past fishing. Mr. "R" came over and wanted to share some Top secret Tawakoni info with me. He let me take pictures of his map, which I greatly appreciate. He gave me the low down on the lake, and we had a very good visit. I shared some brush piles with him, and he headed for the house. I found some crappie about 200 yards due east of the island on a small drop, it has a couple brush piles. I caught some crappie, and I could see the sand bass schooling and they were coming right for me. It was not too long before they were surrounding me 100 yards in all directions. The gar were working the sand bass, and the sandies were working the shad. I tried the flutter spoon, but is falls too slow to really get some numbers. picked up the heavy jig I have been using lately, and started working the bottom trying to pick up the larger fish. Had a couple surprises, and probably ended up with about 40 pounds of catfish. All fish released today. The Big one was 18 pounds.. The video might look like it was all out, but up to this point it was basically like casting in the back yard all day. Hot, no wind, and fish had lock jaw. Not even the mosquitos were biting. Anyhoo, I had a good day and was very blessed to run into Mr "R". Much appreciated... Left about 3:45, the sand bass were big and the bait is staging close to the island.. Take care and bring extra water if you go out. I took many dips in the lake to cool off.

Forgot to add this video clip. Dinner bell rang at 2pm.

If anyone knows who makes this spoon, please let me know. The one i have been using most of the time is almost completely cleaned of paint. They were given to me last year by a man who i called into a school. He gave me two baits. Really like them. Marlin, get in touch with me so we can get out. I work Thur-sat

Prosise-I've seen those slabs (or ones just like it!) in some of the bait stores up by Texoma. Did a quick search and came up with this....looks to be close! https://www.leadbabiesslabs.com/big_moe/index.php

My fishing Mentor launched at McPherson ramp this morning early. Had all 4 of his hubs/wheels swiped. Also got his spare. Beware, and keep an eye out for a big truck with an exhaust that is not typical.

They popped the buddy bearing caps and just removed the nut on the hubs.
