Hey all! i hit possum kingdom lake a week or two back and managed to get my hand on two solid white bass. In all honesty, I much prefer these guys to largies since they fight a little harder and, in my opinion are very pretty. (not to mention, a great table fair too). Luckily, possum kingdom lake had the topwater bite ON when I went there so it was pretty easy to hook up on some, but now I'm wondering what are some places closer to Frisco (45-90 minute drive) with good chances of catching white bass, stripers or hybrids? particularly looking at lavon, grapevine, and Lewisville but there doesn't seem to be much about these three lakes on the forum. any spots to check out in particular in these areas? any general places/ideas are greatly appreciated!

I've heard that Tawakoni and Hubbard are good hybrid lakes.

Texoma has stripers.

I'm not sure on particular locations to catch them. I really only fish for largemouth. But best of luck!

Grapevine is good for sandbass fishing from a kayak. Launch at Katie’s Woods and head towards the dam. Other options too, but that’s where I head. If the big aerator is on near the dam, you’ll see a ton of shad around it which brings the others in to feed.

Launch from Texoma dam and paddle along the dam and near the boat ramp for striper. Just be careful when there are tons of boats…

Texoma can be good. You might catch some stripers from the bank at Eisenhower park if you got out on the point into the main lake at Dusk or dawn.

I fished Tawakoni once at the state park. Really bad road down to the ramp but there were sand bass working there in high numbers that day. If you waded out on some of the shallow points you might be able to get to them.

You should look at getting a Kayak. Unless it's spring and fish are real shallow to spawn bank fishing a lake is tough.
