"North Texas doctors have quietly developed a plan that seeks to prepare for the possibility that due to the COVID-19 surge the region will run out of intensive-care beds.

If that happens, for the first time, doctors officially will be allowed to take vaccination status of sick patients into account along with other triage factors to see who gets a bed."

Just off your quote without reading it, sounds like socialized healthcare determining who lives and dies. They have it in Canada. The elderly are going first. Meanwhile you have socialist Dem's pushing for this, while we can't even have the VA do their job well. They manage less than 1% of Americans healthcare.

I bet Republican is a criteria.

Why don't they build the tents again?

Some places are. Think I saw that there is one in Mississippi that set up a large tent in a parking structure. 1/2 of it is used for Covid inpatients and the other half is being used for the monoclonal antibody infusion treatments

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

I know many frontline nurses and the general consensus is their is no one to staff the beds if they are built. I get solicitations often about hospitals hiring RNs and paying $5000.00 week. Locally they are offering staff $500.00 bonus per extra shift and another $300.00 if they complete a certain number of shifts. The state has 5 morgues refrigerated trucks on standby in San Antonio. The gov has made some statement about having 5000+ new medical staff soon but I don’t know from where or how much that cost. Before all this there was a looming shortage of nurses and 1000s of H1B visas for nurses was ongoing to help. Life sustains medical equipment and drugs can only be handled by highly trained staff. Don’t get me started on respiratory therapists as it is no small task to manage ventilators.

If it was as easy as pitching a tent they would do it. It is about to get real again.

There are no death panels. There are ethics panels. Where the death panel BS came from was whether doctors could be reimbursed for discussing end of life issues with patients. But here in America we would rather see folks suffer tethered to a ventilator for weeks at the end of a terminal disease than medically discuss ahead of time a plan so folks can go with dignity,

It already is. Our local hospital didn't have any beds or staff for one that came into the ER today. After a couple hours, that person passed away. That was a first for our hospital.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

You can describe the information in op as “ethics panels” if you like. No need to falsely claim death panels do not exist though.

If the China Virus vaccine works so well then why would there be any Vaxxed people in the hospital and even if there are a few why would they need ICU beds? confused 3

Because some of those that are vaccinated are cancer patients, lupus patients, or with some other immune system compromising issue....like transplants and living on anti-rejection meds. Those people do not have the best immune system, which is why they are first in line for the booster shots in the hopes of keeping them out of the hospital and alive.
