Went with friends Cliff and Bruce in Cliff's boat. We didn't take any pics but thought you might appreciate the intelligence of where and how to catch white bass now that we are in "that time of year" when they become hard to catch because of the small shad. We did catch quite a few on Mepps 4, but then they would turn off and we had to go to the Mepps 2 technique in my video (see link in my signature block below). The 2's worked very well catching a fish nearly every cast for long stretches of time. We caught a great many magnums - most were magnums. We found them in three places and left catching them at each spot: Greenville Pump Station, Finger Point, and the underwater point/drop-off due southwest from Tallman Beach. We were on the water by about 7:45 AM and stopped at 4:30 PM. How many did we catch? 221 white bass, 6 cats, and 7 eating size yellow bass. No stripers and no hybrids. But the huge whites felt like hybrids, taking line on many occasions. It was a very fun day with good friends. Thank you, Lord! All good gifts are from above!!!

WTG the Three Meppskateers "It aint easy making it look easy." Many I talked to at the ramp didn't catch much due to August's "no biter fish"

I fished Tawakoni today from 10-1:30. Tried the humps first and didn’t mark any fish. I saw some guides trolling on the far west sides of the humps and they seemed to be catching some but I didn’t want to troll or get in their way. Went to Finger where I knew I’d mark fish. And I did. A ton of them. Per some suggestions in another post, I downsized my slab to the tiniest chartreuse one I could find. I continued to try the MAL. I tried Dennis’ Mepps method (literally watched the video wile fishing). I even broke out the hellpet and trolled for 15-20 minutes. Final body count was one 14” sandbass on the MAL. I suck at fishing.

That's awesome Mr. Christian. The small things you learn when fishing with others is worth it's weight in gold. I learned so much when i was in my 20's fishing as a non-boater in club tournaments. I remember fishing with an old salty fisherman and i actually chuckled inside when he pulled out the old wooden topwater. I thought i would show his some magic with my young blood expertise and put a whoopin on him. For about 10 minutes i was feeling cocky inside. But then it started, he started catching fish after fish. I was watching his presentation, how he twitched the lure, and what it did when he moved it. But i couldn't get bit if i was in a room full of mosquitos. I finally asked him something like "why do you think they like that lure so much?". He replied something like, I don't know and he handed me the rod. I fished with his rod for 30 minutes running the trolling motor and no bites. He was really eating up the moment when he said "net", and did this a couple more times before he said to cast the lure and wait about 10 seconds before making any movement. Something about that delay would get their attention.. I learned many things about fishing from that old man, and i still remember the lesson about buying lures. He said most flashy lures are meant to catch fisherman at the register, not fish. It was the way you worked it. And even more rewarding is when my son makes a suttle change to something i shared with him, and it works even better. I think we learn something everyday when on the water, now i just wish i could understand it all. Good Lord above has blessed me with good health so far, i hope i can continue doing what i love for many years.. Kudos for inviting 4x4 out to wet a line. You are what I call "Good People", a reference i learned from my Father. You know what I mean. I too hope to cross paths with you someday, I don't ever get too close to other boats. If you ever see my brown/tan champion please come over so we can meet. I typically stay on GV, but Mason is excited about hybrids, so we may be doing some Lewisville fishing soon.

I've been on a trip with Dennis at Cedar Creek. Dennis is the man when it comes to Meps' technique. He showed my friend and I the technique. So impressed and took some patience to learn. It worked! Thanks Dennis for helping otbers to catch and all the info

Dennis and I are headed back on Friday to fish with Seapro Todd. We will post a report. Dennis as usual in his modesty didn't mention that he caught way over half of those 221--especially on the #2's. Bruce and I are still learning.
With Dennis' patience and some further experience #2's will combine time. Dennis the "THE MAN" in every way--whether it be fishing or in life. God bless him and the many he has touched like me.
Always a privilege to fish with Dennis and his friends. The blessings just overflow.

Alrighty, Dennis ! If you struggle with anxiety or depression or anger management due to can't-catch-chit syndrome, or skunked, then DC is your man! Cliff and I are doing a long therapy session with Dennis this Friday.

I hope to make it Tawakoni tomorrow. If you see me in a blue and white Nauticstar with a 150 Yamaha, give me a shout. I'll likely be fishing by myself tomorrow, if anyone wants to fish with me, you're welcome to.

Where do you launch? What time? I got up this morning at 5:00 and was about to leave the house, but I hadn't installed my Garmin graph and Livescope on my new boat. I decided to install it before going fishing, so I am working on that now. I will try to go tomorrow morning. The closest launch ramp to me is Cedar Cove, so I will probably launch there around daybreak.

I'll be heading to Tawakoni in the morning and have room for 1 in case anyone wants to go fishing. I didn't make it out today, instead I installed my Livescope and Garmin unit on my new boat. I plan to get there about 6:15, likely launching at Cedar Cove. Unless the fish are really biting, I'll probably be off the water by noon.
I'll check this thread before heading out, and check my messages, in case someone wants to go.
