Sending this out to my fellow full-time professional fishing guides. That necessary evil of my boat insurance policy is coming up for renewal soon. I'd really like to "shop" this, as it seems less and less coverage costs more and more every year.

If you have any recommendations, I'd would appreciate you letting me know about it. Just a business (or agent) name and phone number is all I ask.

Thank you, fellows!

Sea Horse is who I use even though I don’t guide any longer. Always no hassle on claims

I’m pretty happy with Geico so far. One claim that was relatively easy because it was just parts.

Bob,

I went thru Texas Worldwide Insurance Agency 281-449-1422 and they set me up with the following:

Insurance Provided by Gallagher Charter Lakes/Great American Insurance Company 800 879-2248

I've been satisfied the couple of times over the years when I filed a claim for repairs on a Motor. Never had to use the Medical part of the Insurance.

You would be surprised at how many Guides don't carry Insurance because of the high cost. It is expensive but it's a whole lot more expensive to be sued or end up in Court. hammer

Good Luck!
Royce & Adam

I am looking to start guiding part time next month. What roughly does full coverage run you a month? I 100% plan to be insured and would love some kind of policy that handles motor/boat issues as well.

Regular Insurance Companies (Farmers, Allstate, State Farm, etc.) will not insure a Professional Guide. They will insure Boats/Motors for anyone who is not Guiding.

Insurance Cost for Outfitters, Guides, etc. is just like regular insurance as it depends on the amount of coverage you want to purchase, age of the boats you operate, deductible amount, etc.

We operate three Center Console Boats that are older, both 2 Stroke and 4 Stroke Motors, lots of Electronics and Equipment and maintain a Million $ Liability/Medical coverage. I try and keep the cost below $3000 annually by adjusting values on the stuff we have and shopping the insurance around. It's expensive and not very competitive.

Good Luck and I recommend you carry insurance as it just takes one incident/accident and you can be sued for every penny you have.
