Last summer on Conroe when the cats were not biting shad, beefhearts, or bream, hot dog weiners soaked in oil and garlic were great. When the water started cooling off, the bite cooled off on this.

Hot Dogs for sure. I have actually fished four poles with one having hot dogs, one having shrimp, one having shad and one having liver and the one with the hot dog just kept catching cat after cat. I'm not saying the others don't work, they just don't work as well as the hot dogs. Granted, I've never caught a cat over 15 lbs, but that isn't the question. My vote is for hot dogs and as someone else said, the cheaper ($.88 for eight) the better.

I agree with Birdman26 on the shrimp. However I try to get the head on never frozen types. I have very good luck on the lakes like Tawakoni though.

I can't believe nobody has thrown cut up eel into the mix yet. Slice these dudes up like you'd cut a carrot, they are great...problem is they are hard to come by once you get away from the coast.
