Go ahead and buy this pin The original is plastic and will break. The new replacement is billet and will last forever. Plus, it engages smoother.

It's not a "gps puck" it's a magnetic heading sensor and it needs to be as close to midline of your boat as possible.

After you install, make sure you do the calibration as in the instructions...

Actually you can mount it anywhere in the boat and adjust for offset when doing the calibration.

Certainly your choice but I'd rather have the support arm sitting on the carpet than the gel coat. On mine I put a painted fender washer screwed to the deck where the support rod lands.

I thought about that. My Motorguide was set up the same way. Plus it allows me to tuck rod butts under it while running. 25 year old boat... lol the Ultrex and new Hummingbird cost more than I gave for the boat years ago. It’s only a 18’11” boat so deck room is limited.

I did the same on a Nitro 640. Haha. Ultrex alone cost more than I paid for that boat. Then I networked Helix 3 Helix units. I bought all the stuff with plans on moving to my current boat when I found it.

You’ll like the TM. It really is a good piece of the puzzle to own. Now I take it for granted. I’m not sure I could ever have a boat without an Ultrex.

Well I knew I needed the adapter for the transducer for the Mega DI in my Ultrex but I missed the Ethernet adapter for the I-link so I ordered that one today. 60 bucks to plug it in to make it work. Oh well I’ll be set up soon. I was looking at the cables I’ll need when I replace my helm graph along with the Ethernet box. Over 300.00 bucks on top of the price of the graph to make it all link together. Just money I guess! Lol

It is pretty frustrating that you need an adapter to connect them when they are both Johnson outdoors products. Also annoying that pretty much anything needs a black box to make it work (livescope, active target, 360 imaging, etc)

Thats my money fish

I bought extra plastic ones because I snapped one when I hit a stump. I would rather have that pin snap than the shaft of the trolling motor. They are super easy to change out and it can be done easily on the water if you keep a spare with you.

Why? The shaft is the only part of my Ultrex still covered by a warranty.

Can’t change the shaft out on the water, common sense to me. The pin is a lot easier fix than dealing with a broken shaft.

I guess I’ll find out. I’m sure mines the oldest, most abused Ultrex in history. I think I’ve broken almost every part EXCEPT the shaft. The shaft is newer though, it was replaced when I cracked the motor housing on some rip rap about a year ago. The only original parts left are the pedal (mostly), and the mount.

Where can I get a spare pin? Or do you have the part #?
