Probably varies a lot by location. I live in a county that is about 50% vaccinated. With the Delta variant they are seeing the largest daily positive test rates, highest hospitalizations, and the highest deat rates. So far here both vaccinated and unvaccinated are having increase numbers in infections, but it's mostly the unvaccinated in the hospital, and all of the deaths have been unvaccinated. The past couple weeks we went from having few if any deaths to 1 a day to having 3 just this past day. Not sure if it's that the people waited too late to seek treatment, but the 3 that died yesterday only found out they had covid in the past 2 to 3 days and they deteriorated rapidly. The youngest death in our county was among those that died yesterday. She was 43. County now has 1032 (about 1% of our population) people in isolation or quarantine. Most of the cases here right now are the Delta variant. It is more transmittable and people that are vaccinated are carrying more of a viral load of the virus in their upper respiratory system, but only rarely do vaccinated folks get severe cases or worse. I hear the lambda variant may be more dangerous to vaccinated folks, but not sure where that variant is showing up yet.

Yep, it would not be that hard to go through the details if we had them. You can bet your bippie they would be broadcasting 24-7 if the majority of the dying were young or heathy.

I’ve also read that the more it mutates, the less of a threat it is to everyone, but especially the vaccinated, because the vaccines protect against the spike protein, which is why it’s such a problem for our immune systems.

So are these places with this new variable thing having lines and lines 1/2mile long 3deep lines waiting for the nose stick? I seen it here with the OG19 but not yet with the variable.

I think those days are behind everyone/everywhere since the tests are now in more locations, and they are only testing exposed people and ones with symptoms for the most part. There was more of a push last year for mass testing to get a handle on the virus.
