After much research, and consideration- i put a deposit today on an Old Town 106MK. Will be able to pick it up in September - super excited to get on the water.

I have much to learn!!!

Good for you! I can't imagine how tough it would be to have to choose a kayak these days. cheers

Congrats. Hope you get it sooner than later. Talked to some of the guys at ACK the other day and most of the shipments they get go immediately to back orders. No old towns or hobies in their showroom that I can recall.

Had a great experience with Mariner. I think you'll find them very helpful when it comes to rigging your kayak. We dealt with Duc, and he was very knowledgeable. Didn't try to sell us the most expensive stuff, but what best met our needs.

yeah Duc was my salesman - we connected on the FB group

i looked at different brands, different lengths

i've watched several youtube videos on the model I chose

and i've got a gear list that I'm working on

on top of being a novice kayak'er - i'm also just a step above a novice fisherman....so again, lots to learn and i'm glad I found this forum

It can be pretty stressful deciding on which kayak to buy. Same with gear. My only suggestion is, try and fight the urge to get everything rigged like the guys on YouTube immediately. Take a little time to get to know your kayak, and you'll know what you need to make it right for you.

I hope you have a lot of fun with your new rig, and hope you catch a lot of fish and memories.

+1 on taking time before adding much to it.
