I am on vacation this week, I took my kids home to Washington to visit relatives. I had only a few opportunities to fish, but spent lots of time around water. It's really beautiful up there in the summer though this summer is hotter than usual. The first place I tried fishing was the Baker river and Baker lake and didn't catch anything. They are beautiful bodies of water. Then I went fishing in Diablo lake which is famous in Washington for it's turquoise color. The bite turned on around 8. Though they were mostly small there were a couple big ones jumping. Unfortunately I had a leaky raft and only one of my reels which got a line problem just when the bite was really good, but I managed to land 2 trout. The first one looked like a rainbow\cutthroat hybrid and I released it. The second one was over 12 inches and I kept it. We had it for lunch yesterday. It was a great time in spite of problems. There's something magical about the trout bite turning on in the evening.
