A few years back I replaced my 2009 ZX 250 with a 2015 FX20. The layout was exactly the same on front and back deck but the boxes were a little larger and deeper on the ZX 250. The foot in boat length was what I wanted but did not expect to lose the depth in the boxes that I did. I fish in tons of stumps and stumpy areas that 21' 250 was getting more scratches and chips than this 20' boat does much easier to move around with the TM.

To keep it simple, you will gain a little more speed with the FXR 20. It will still be good in rough water, but the FXR 21 will be alot better softer ride in rough water. I'd say there is a bout a 4 mph difference in the 2 boats. With me these days, Id rather give up a few MPH and have a better rough water boat.

You should wait and buy the 2022 ZXR. Looks like Skeeter got rid of the “team deck design,” so you have
the same layout as the FXR.

One is a foot shorter as it porpoises uncontrollably.

I’ve had 2 20 ft skeeters and never had that problem. Never had it with my 21’s either. But then again, I don’t drive a boat 20 to 30 mph either. Most of the porpoise issues with skeeters are done by the driver and jackplate and trim heights. Not the boat.

I know one of the Elite guys went with the 20' and said it saves 400 lbs which meant less fuel overall and he didn't notice a change in performance or fishability.

I went with the fx 20 over the 21. I just really felt that the 20 was all I needed. With that said, I fish a lot of docks and timber.

False boat wasn’t setup right. I’ve had customers say same thing. After couple tweaks it rides fine

This "wasn't set up right" statement seems I don't know, weird to me. Why when you buy a brand new $70,000 plus rig does the dealer not go to the lake with the customer to ensure everything is right? Maybe a short driving lesson like the how to trim a Skeeter video that is on here for someone less experienced? I have never purchased new so this might happen but it seems as though it doesn't. I don't know maybe I am off base here...

See you on the lake and have a great day!

There are boats from every brand that require a setup to be tweaked a bit to run right. Every boat is different, even same model from a same manufacturer will have differences occasional. It's just part of owning a boat.

I’ve never had a dealer take me to the lake and show me how to drive a boat, they water test them to make sure everything is working correctly and I would pick them up. I don’t need them to show me how and have never asked nor have they ever offered. I’m sure they would if asked.

Every person drives a boat different then the other. I can set my boat up to run 90mph but someone els me might be fine with 70mph with same boat with easier driving instead of the ragged edge. Most boats sold are set to the standard that the company calls for and u can do the rest as u see fit. Just cause every other Skeeter runs a T-2 doesn’t mean it’s setup right. I can put a Bravo 25.5 on it and get a easier driving, better handling and faster boat. Just like every new Merc sent out has a 24 or 25 Fury on them while I’m seeing lots of carbon build up due to less then desirable RPM range. Some people are fine with that while others want max rpm.

At end of day it’s up to the boat owner to set the boat up per how they seem fit. Tackle, batteries, gear location all matter.
