Great game. I was 14 and remember watching it in my room, once it got to the top of the 8th I went into the living room and grabbed the remote and put it on the "big" TV. Growing up there was really only one rule and when you broke it you took your life into your own hands. RULE #1 DON'T EVER TOUCH THE TV WHEN DAD IS WATCHING. He asked me what the heck I was doing and I couldn't jinx it so I implored him to watch the last six outs. He must have enjoyed it because I'm alive to type this.

I was working my day off and was doing the route that he lived on the day after he pitched his perfect game. We were talking about it at the post office the next morning. Major league baseball was about to go on strike and several letter carriers thought it was no big deal. I was not one of them. Low and behold he had a certified letter so I would get to knock on his door. He was home and we chatted, not one word about the game he pitched till he signed then I said great game yesterday. He smiled and said he would remember it for a long time.
Excited, I could not wait to get home that night to tell my wife and kids. My wife had taken that day off to be with the kids and they had gone to the Arlington Public Library. To their surprise Kenny Rogers showed up to sign autographs! So when I got home to show them the certified receipt with his signature on it, they both had a card with his signature. Three Kenny Rogers signatures the day after he pitched the perfect game.

I got to see that game on TV in 1956. It was a small 12" B&W TV at my grandma's house. I was 11 and hated the Yankees, except for Mickey Mantle.

Pretty amazing. He battled back from something like seven? 3 ball counts.

To me, this was the perfect game. That was a record setter. Only time Robin ever got 7 hits in a game.
