Just take you Livescope and look for the biggest pile of Budweiser long-neck bottles on the lake. Harry left a few Coors there also.

The lake was young, it was about 5' high, guy starts hammering all the tourneys out there for conseciive weeks by huge numbers. He named it 31 cause that was the depth at that time, so it's really about 26' deep at normal depth. It's just east of Wolf island, and no there is no [censored] windmill.

I can remember a guy catching 3 that weighed 31 pounds, I think there was a 3 fish limit at the time with a 24 inch slot, I just assumed that is how that hole was named. I know the guy well that caught those fish, going to ask him next time i see him, he is a RR local.

I know the guy well that caught those fish, going to ask him next time i see him, he is a RR local. I fished just about every tournament on Roberts back in the nineties, even the Wednesday nighters. The largest three fish stringer in a tournament I can remember was 27 1/2 lbs caught by Dan Wilson and me. I have no doubt there was a 31 pounder, but I bet it was fun fishing. Jim McIlroy and I caught a few five fish stringers over 40 lbs fun fishing. The absolute truth was Jim found the hole the year the lake opened, when it was high. He found that spot, as well as others on a topo map. The depth at that time was 31 feet. He and Mike Green realized what a hole it would be when the lake went down. At that time the lake was a flooded forest. No one could see them there without knowing where it was. Jim was good about sharing water, and I was lucky enough to be one of his partners. Green gave the hole to a live baiter, and that changed the perspective. The hole still produced numerous winning stringers all through the nineties. It just ain't the same now, and never will be with Jim gone.
