This may be for our older generation out there....but here goes. What about furniture. How old does a piece of furniture have to be before it's classified as Antique ? I'm over 74 and as a young child I heard of antique stuff...mainly different types of furniture. What's your idea of the age?

Well, I just inherited (by home purchase) a bed, frame, head & footboard, mattress & foundation, sheets pillows and a quilt. It sleeps really nice and I'm bequeathing my bed here to someone who can really use it.
Bonus: I don't have to lug mine up there.
I also inherited (same way) a 15' aluminum Starcraft, trailer and a broke 15hp Gamefisher that needs at the very least: a prop, gas tank & fuel line, and God knows what else.
Dishes, pots & pans, other stuff in the cupboards. Lots of stuff, some usable.
A fold-out couch some mice or squirrels had acorns in for snacking & a futon that a couple hefties had relations on - both are at the curb at the shack.
A screened-in gazebo.
2 firepits and about 2 face cords of seasoned oak, maybe another cord of green oak and a goodly amount of birch.
A Gamo pump action .177 pellet gun with scope for squirrel eradication. It shoots good, I can't wait to zero it in and snipe away at the tree rats.
Of which of all of the above would NOT be considered antiques, rather aged lake house dusty, musty old carp that the sellers left for me to dispose. Don't get jealous, the house is not on the water, but it's 1/2 mile walking distance to fishing. I can't wait to become baldWIbankerDan . . . . . cheers

Now, the 30 year old single-door refrigerator with 2" of ice in the freezer - That's an Antique - that will be hauled away when my 21cu ft Kenmore gets delivered in August. I can't wait to defrost that sukka . . . . crazy

I have this piece of furniture that was my grandmothers from years ago. I was told it was called a smoking table. It has these two detachable approximate 2' tall ashtrays on the sides and the main ashtray in the center with a holder for a pack of smokes. I consider it antique

I have a 60-year-old oak double bed frame headboard, footboard, side rails, and a matching 6 draw chest. Is it an antique?

Most folks I've talked to in the antique industry refer to 100 years for the term antique, but many of them think it should probably be 75.

Vintage items are generally 20-25+ years old

Looks like a proper place to twist one up
