Has anyone ever fished the San Jacinto River? Specifically between the lake Houston dam and Crosby Fwy (US-90). Just curious what the majority of fish species is there. Meeting the family at a house on the river this weekend for a small vacation, and I will be doing some fishing hopefully. Not looking for secret spots, just curious what to target. Thanks!

Been a lot of years. Used to hammer channel cats below the dam when it was raining, and lots of bass (and gators) in the sloughs below the dam. In the summer during long dry spells you can catch reds & specks all the way up to the dam.

Lots of catfish and white bass. You can also catch bass, crappie, and redfish.

I see tons of wrecks in Muleshoe lake.
Its slightly south of Crosby freeway though. But would be a great place to explore some honey holes smile
