Today was my second worse day ever at Choke. Only 4 small fish were caught. I did see an alligator that growled at us. I guess that is what you call it. It sounded like somebody started their motor out of the water. It was awesome. Well worth the trip in my opinion. Where have all the fish gone?

Sunbrown- A few years ago, I heard what sounded like someone trying to start a small outboard in the Four fingers area. As I looked for the person trying to start their boat, I saw the nature of the sound ! A HUGE gator was making the noise as the water vibrated in sheets from his body. He was as long as my bass boat 18' 4" and as wide. I found out that it was their Mating call - It was the same time of the year as present (June). It was very awesome to see. As far as the fishing, What pattern did you fish today ? What did you catch your four fish on ? The good days run along with the Bad. You gotta keep after them. I still wonder if all the pressure these tourny's throw at the lake has an effect on the fishing ? With all the pressure they probably have seen all the lures in a Bass Pro-shops Catalogue. Rio
My stringer is getting there!!

Riotex, We threw almost everything in the box. I caught one on a horny toad early over the grass, and two on senkos in about 10 feet of water. My partner caught one on a black spinnerbait. I think all the pressure from tourney's, and all the recent rain has something to do woth it.

Rio Had the same thing happen to us in Catfish Cove. As soon as we motored in, he came out to the middle to let us know who's turf this was. Stayed out there as long as we were there. At one point, he started doing the growling thing. I too thought it was someone trying to start a motor. Gave me chills when I realized it was this big buck male. He'd also go under the water for several minutes at a time and would resurface in another part of the cove. Stayed and fished there for a while but got out fairly quick. I was glad to give it back to him. Fourjs

I love it when people talk about the gators out there. I laugh every time when someone thinks I'm full of BS when I say there's gators in Choke.
Every fisherman knows, but I don't work with many fisherman. I literally had to take video of 'em to get them to believe me.
Morons.

Those gators are incredible. I have seen them scream like that and bow their tail and head up until they are in a u shape. It is wild to see. I don't know if the lake was the problem this week-end or not, but I fished Mathis Sunday,(a lake that I do pretty well on), thru everything at them but the tackle box. Fished flooded grass, boat docks, flooded timber, never even got a bite. I was in awe!! So maybe the weather patterns, pressures, etc.etc all have something to do with the south Texas area over the week-end.
Without God..we are nothing

When those 'gators do what you are describing, it's mating season. Best keep your distance when they do this -
