Haven't seen any discussion recently here on Bitcoin, so what are your thoughts about it and similar stocks Investments?

I wouldn't place bitcoin and stock investments in the same category.
Purchasing bitcoin is speculation.
Purchasing stocks is an investment.

You can make and/or lose money with either modality.

Pretty accurate, stocks can be evaluated and valued based on earning, growth potential, debt, etc. Bitcoin is like betting red or black at roulette table. Pure gambling.

The only way bitcoin has any value is from some other schmope wanting to buy bitcoin.

Now the same thing could have been said about a hundred dollar bill back in the 1930's when the US moved away from the gold standard. But the dollar had the backing of the government which is something crypto currency is lacking.

I really wish I would have used my whole bankroll to buy bitcoin several years ago, but I didn't believe in it. Now I see it as a bubble just waiting to burst, so I am still not interested in investing.

Agreed. I will add, with Stocks there is a calculated expected return that drives stock value. With bitcon, the expected return is zero. It is a currency. I good currency is a stable one. Stocks and bitcon can go up and down, based on speculation (supply and demand), the key difference is that stocks have a expected return greater than zero. There are stocks with zero and negative expected return, those are your penny stocks.

That being said, I have bought bitcoin as an investment for the fun of it, represents less than 1% of my portfolio.

It's always a hot topic on the way up, but gets really quiet as it goes off the cliff. roflmao

When 14 year olds are pumping crypto on YouTube and tiktok, then that should tell you to stay away from it… hell my daughter came home from school, 5th grade mind you, and asked me if I ever heard of dogecoin? Hell yes people made money, lots off it too, some are on this forum if they were smart enough to sell… give another 3 years and these crypto bulls will be giving handies out behind whataburger.

This is another reason to stay away from Whataburger.

I don't care. That's just funny.

For me and crypto in general. It's fun to flip on a boring weekend. I'll never hold it very long. Way too volatile.
