Can anyone tell me if Alvarado Lake would be a good place to take grandsons fishing? Or any other lake closer to Ft Worth?

There is some good fishing on Alvarado for all species. The only public access is right by the boat ramp.

I've never had luck with crappie in the summer on alvarado. But it is full of catfish.
