I’m thinking about undertaking the task of replacing the carpet in my 2001 Crestliner 1850 Sportfish. (It’s a deep V aluminum boat.) I’ve started researching online and although I’m not super handy, it looks relatively simple - removing all doors, removing old carpet and glue, adding new glue, putting new carpet down. That said, I’d hate for this to be one of those projects that turns out to be way more work than anticipated and I end up wishing I had just paid to have it done. If you’ve had any experience with replacing carpet, I’d love to hear any tips. Thanks in advance.

Watch some videos! When your laying out the carpet, make sure it’s all facing the same way. You know the way the ply is made. Buy good carpet. Use good glue and read the instructions. Take you time. I’ve done two. One came out great. I took my time. The other not so great. I was wanting to go fishing. Lol I’m sure others will post but those are my high spots.

Thanks! That brings me to my first question… What is “good” carpet and glue? I see that BPS and Cabelas sell a house brand. I’m guessing that’s not considered “good” but it’s a 20 year old boat, I don’t need something that’ll last 30 years.

Unless you love the carpet , I would suggest you research some of the not slip surfaces . I removed all the carpet from my bluewave last summer. only the hatches and front deck had carpet. Pulled it all off and went back with Tuff Coat. The application was a breeze , all the work was in the removal and prepping the surfaces. Your mileage may vary,
