The 3.5 EcoBoost? I tow my boat with the 2.7, no problem.
Waiting on Bob Davis' next selfie

My understanding is the truck is a hybrid, it can operate on electric alone some, but not extensively. It has a battery pack and a generator that runs off the truck, you can use it to power anything you would plug into a normal generator and if it can power it off the battery it will and if you call for more power it will start the truck on its own to provide it etc.
Other than that it has the 3.5 ecoboost and should tow like a freight train like all the other ecoboosts do.

That video Duke posted showed the Ecohybrid was a beast towing at just under 8k pounds which was the maximum that the Ram was capable of but it got 2mpg less (6 vs 8) than the Dodge pulling up and down the Ike Gauntlet. The Ram did have the 3.31 gears vs the Ford 3.93 gears.
The Ford seemed to easily pull the trailer up the hill at 2.5k rpms while the Ram was turning 4.5k and working harder.

I don't think it's the gears. Those ecoboosts can use a lot of fuel under extreme conditions. You make up for it under a normal commute, imo.

I believe you have the gear ratios transposed. I've owned an F150 Ecoboost 3.31 and my son has a Ram 3.93 rear. Also had anF150 Ecoboost with a 3.15 rear and it seemed to tow better than the 3.31 or 3.55. Doesn't sound logical but the torque curve of the Ecoboost seemed to respond better to the taller gear.

I went back and looked again. I did get the gear ratios wrong, as usual.
The Dodge was 3.21 and the Ford 3.73.

8 speed versus 10. but still achieved better time and economy with less braking.

I think it has very little to do with 8 seed vs. 10 speed and much more to do with forced induction, the ecoboost makes peak torque at 1/2 the rpm of the hemi and is why it operates at significantly lower rpm.

8 speed versus 10. but still achieved better time and economy with less braking. I'm sure economy would have been better on the Ford if they had SLOWED DOWN to the performance of the Dodge to reach 60mph at the same point but what fun is that? And the braking was not much different, plus the Ford has a higher payload capacity and was more solid/tight with the load. Can't imagine those Dodge coils after a few years of towing....

Ive got over 100,000 miles on the coil springs in my ram. Ive had over 2700 pounds in the bed and just drove around the past 3 days with a pallet and 1500 pounds of pavers in the bed. No worse for ware. I will say I am not a fan of the coil suspension, but it works, has a great empty ride and has not seemed to degrade with use as far as I can tell. I tow a 5000 pound boat regularly and have towed a 7500 lb 30 foot TT many times as well as utility trailers.

I was just on the Ford Website and seem to remember that the 3.5L Hybrid isn't available in all options (larger fuel tank comes to mind... as the 36 gal tank isn't an option).
Looking for some feedback here on usage too.

I 2021 F150 Powerboost and it tows my 20.5 ft Ranger with no problem. As far as the hybrid part it only goes into that in stop and go type traffic when towing. It’s a great towing vehicle though.
