Question for Lowrance Pro Staffers. Is there any benefit to adding this to a Live unit?

The 3D Structure Scan transducer is an excellent choice with the HDS-Live units. The Active Imaging is an easier install and an excellent structure scan transducer. If I had 3D already in the boat, I would leave it, but if I had to install and choosing between 3D & AI 3-1, I would go with Active Imaging ducer. They are both good.

NOTE: the 3D gives you that 3D look you don't get with AI. The 3D does not do Sonar, only Side and Down. Do you have a separate Sonar transducer as you will need one, if you choose 3D.
I always recommend a separate Sonar ducer with HDS units even with the AI.

The 3D and the 3-1 have great performance for different things. I have both on my boat the 3D on the transom and the 3-1 on the ghost. For short range and close in detail the 3-1 is great. For hunting for structure and covering a lot of water with great detail the 3D is superior. If you want to look out on a big flat for structure or ditches the 3D setup correctly will look out 600 ft on ea side of the boat as advertised, Both transducers are great with their own specialties.

Thank you for answering, I currently have a 3 in 1 and was wondering if it enhanced side and down scan? I have read that it did on the Gen 3 and older models.
