When I was a kid in Michigan. It really can be pretty fun. My dad said that the last few years they haven't had weather cold enough to get the ice thick enough to ice fish much though. Dennis

it beats cabin fever, some guys spend lots of time on the ice so they build these shanties.

Many times! I lived in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota for many years. When the fish are on, it's an absolute blast. On a good day you never stop catching.

It,s a blast. Used to drive my Jeep CJ5 down the Anchor Point boat ramp out onto the channel and right onto Lake Erie. At times tha Walleye and Yellow Perch bite would be better than any other time of year.

Lived in Nebraska for four years (ugh). Wasn't a whole lot to do in the winter other than ice fish. Had a ball, once I got used to the pressure cracks zinging across the pond or lake! There were times where we would catch 200 + bluegill, crappie, bass, and channels in a day. Best tasting bluegill and crappie are through the ice.

Yep, we used to sit in an ice house on the St Croix river with a heater going in the corner and roll in the yellow perch and walleyes. Good eatin' 4 sure! Had an old couch that we would sit on. It was like fishing in your living room!
