We’re staying in Crystal Beach until Saturday. My brother-in-law and I put the boat in at Bolivar Yacht Basin this morning and fished fairly close just in case the weather got bad. We took my 5 year old nephew out today. Only managed one keeper trout. Tried live croaker and shrimp as well as artificials. Taking my 7 year old daughter out in the morning. Any suggestions to help put these kids on some fish would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry OP not familiar at all with that area but if you're throwing live shrimp and not finding much try a popping cork with live shrimp. I see some old pilings behind you. Fiddler crabs may also work around those pilings for drum and sheephead.

You get out of it what you put into it!

I have had some luck in the boat break on the north jetty.
We fished that in the summer with live shrimp and caught 7 different species of fish and one seagull who attacked the line and got tangled. Redfish, trout, smack, bluefish and flounder, catfish, ladyfish.
We were anchored just outside of the break in the rocks and dropping the live shrimp down to the bottom and letting the fast current push it along. Almost every cast on out bound tide a fish or lose bait with hit.
Something broke off my 20# Suffix line like it was thread.

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!
