Driving through Dallas last weekend heading back to Houston. Wife was driving, lane we were in going really slow. She changed lanes and we passed a Tesla towing a large pleasure/Ski boat going really really slow with flashers on.

I made the comment to my wife, I bet someone needs an extension cord. I bet a dollar to a donut batteries where on the low side. My guess they go into limp mode so you can get to charging station.

You hate to see people in a bind, but it was kinda funny.

I wonder if anybody was driving it, ya know they do self drive!!!

I bet self drivers have a hard time with extension cords.

My guess is the load made the batteries overheat. Even on the model S with the ludicrous mode, you can only do it for so long before you the batteries get too hot and explode.
