We are taking a family trip to rockport on sept 20, we want to
do some fishing I would like to fish in the bay one day
and offshore one day. What kind of fish can you catch offshore
and is the offshore fishing good down there that time of year
I have no clue where to start.

You can go offshore out of Rockport but you will still be boating through the pass at Port A first. this can eat into your fishing time. The other issue with offshore that time of year is weather. It's still plenty do-able but the odds increase on getting blown out.
