I wouldn’t want gas lanterns bad enough to pay that. I bet you already have electricity there. Go electric. Unfortunately I didn't do my due diligence before this thing and had custom lanterns made. Once I received them had a plumber come over to quote the install and that's what got this all started. Expensive lesson learned. Well, change the jet/porting and switch it to propane. Hide a propane bottle in your flower beds, and run a hose. I would guess you could either connect a tee, and run it under your sidewalk, or go all out and get a propane bottle for each one. It won’t be as clean of an install, but $4000 could buy something cooler than lanterns, in my opinion. Live scope and strippers. New trolling motor and strippers. Or, 4K worth of strippers. I’m guessing you’re married. She won’t understand. Tell her Davedave understands. More strippers. Less lanterns. It’s what everyone needs. Do livescope and strippers go hand in hand?

Get some Poly tubing and a day laborer to dig the trench to meter location. Gets more difficult if you need to go under a driveway. Probably could get It done for around $500 or less.
At $3K I would be getting out the trenching shovel and dig it myself.

I remove a lot of gas lines to porch lanterns but can't recall adding any lately. They make electric fixtures that look just like a flame now days. You would still be ahead buying those and installing them.

Gas lines have to be buried at least 18 inches. That's what the propane company told me. I dug my own trench, they came out and measured the trench and laid the line and connected it.

1- natural gas providers love lanterns - get ready to pay up
2- yard line leak eventually and are prone to damage caused by the elements and
digging
3- make sure the shut off valves are easily accessible for when one does bite the dust, you can isolate it

Gas lights are becoming very hard to work on and maintain. All the mantle companies are out of biz. Only one still in existence that I know of. Better off going electric and getting the electric bulb that mimics a gas light mantle. IMO

Use poly line, it will never corrode and hook it to propane. You can burn a lifetime of propane and not spend 3K on those type lanterns.
