I have two helix 12 g2n and they are running on software version 1.3, never been updated. I am trying to share with a new helix 12 g4n and mega 360. Is it safe to update all the way to the newest version of software.

Probably. You are so far behind that there has been two versions of Humminbird Basemap added to the units.
The first Basemap is the 2017 Lakemaster coverage--non HD.
The second Basemap is the same plus the CoastMaster coverage--non HD.
Install the 2.280 operating software first with just that on a memory card.
After that is done, do Restore Defaults, put the current basemap file on the card by itself and then load it==very large file.

Also can I use my msi transducer to get di with mega 360 Yes, DI/2D/Temp I have the SOLIX MEGA SI+ transducer on my US2 Ultrex and that is connected with the MEGA 360 via Y cable to a display. Ok so I’m still a bit confused. I bought a new helix 12 g4n msi and mega 360, I already have a helix 12 g2n on bow. I am planning on using the new transducer that came with the g4n and mounting it on trolling motor. Will I be able to have 360 up on new graph while having down imaging on the g2n graph at the same time.

Connect the G4N and G2N via Ethernet, use the G4N's SI+ transducer on the trolling motor like my picture. No transducer connected to the G2N and turn Sonar OFF. Choose the G4N as the source for data from the G4N in the G2N's Network Source menu. Connect the MEGA 360 and the MEGA SI+ transducer to the G4N with the 9 M360 2DDI Y cable.

One more question this will give me mega di on g2n while running 360 on g4n right? It will give you 2D/DI/SI/360/Temp on the G2N, but not SI and 360 at the same time.
