I wouldn’t want gas lanterns bad enough to pay that. I bet you already have electricity there. Go electric.

those gas lanterns were all the rage when I was little. if you had one in your front yard you were looked up to.

Unfortunately I didn't do my due diligence before this thing and had custom lanterns made. Once I received them had a plumber come over to quote the install and that's what got this all started. Expensive lesson learned.

Well, change the jet/porting and switch it to propane. Hide a propane bottle in your flower beds, and run a hose. I would guess you could either connect a tee, and run it under your sidewalk, or go all out and get a propane bottle for each one. It won’t be as clean of an install, but $4000 could buy something cooler than lanterns, in my opinion. Live scope and strippers. New trolling motor and strippers. Or, 4K worth of strippers. I’m guessing you’re married. She won’t understand. Tell her Davedave understands. More strippers. Less lanterns. It’s what everyone needs.

I had a gas line run to a gas grill about two years ago and it cost $500. Thought I was getting taken advantage of, but wanted it installed in a hurry so I brushed it off. We recently purchased two gas lanterns for the front of the house. We received two quotes to install gas lines to the two different lanterns and one quote was $3,000 and the other was $4,400. I thought it was as simple as tapping into the existing gas line and running a line under the house and through a wall. Clearly there is more to it than that, but still shocked by the price. Is there a good plumber on the forum that can install gas lines in Dallas that won't result in my house blowing up?
