81 Merc 225HP Carb. 19 miles on 18 Gallons of Gas. 1.05 mile per gallon. At 3.25 per Gallon = 58.50. I need to buy a new boat to save money.

That doesn't make any since either. No outboard will get 48 miles per gallon. Now maybe he means 48 miles more for the entire 40 gallons which would mean 1.2 miles per gallon futher per than his previous motor. Who knows...... I'll keep my Yamaha, thank you very much...

What is being said is that Mercury @ 6.2 miles per gallon vs. Evenrude 5.0 mpg or Yamaha 5.8 gets you another 48 miles per 40 gallon tank. thats about 20% better mpg than E-TEC.

These are the finding by an independent test by BASS and WALLEYE Magazine on the same model of boats and same HP!!

Additionally, the same test estasblished that the Merc averaged about 4 more mph too...!!!

Not a sales ad here for Mercury, but that is what the test results showed...HUUUMMMM

I just stated my numbers that I have had for about 25 years now. I like "Winnsboro Bass busters" numbers better than mine.

I own my boat out right. Doing his math means I can buy a new boat with no payment.

Paul Jeffcoat,
there was no EVINRUDE statement at all. Or Yama hammer or "honda/ suzuki/ Cabrea"

Sorry!!! My son goes to an E. TX school and he showed me this post.

Let's see, at $3.29/gal. plus oil, I figure that the 7.6 Lb of Crappie fillets I just vacuum packed for the freezer cost me about $246 dollars counting the bucks I spent for Roadrunner jigs, a couple of cafe meals, and one night in the motel. 'Course, I won't tell my better half that! If she finds out, she'll demand new carpeting in the family room. If she succeeds, I'll never sell enough beer steins to pay for it. Maybe I can use this thread to convince her that with the cost of gas going sky-high, I need to replace my ole '84 Merc in-line six; reckun???

Heck, you got off cheap!!! It cost a buddy of mine his whole house in divorce court. He was lucky the judge let him keep "His" boat. That only happened cause "Her" car was five years newer than "His" pick-up. Course, then he had to sell the boat just to keep up with the alimony payments. Now, he just bums rides to the lake with me.

No!! Not exactly!!! She put a lean on my boat!! I found out years later when I bought another house.

I did not wish to pay her. Long story short. It is now an inground Hot Tub.

It keeps water out as well as in. Having some plumbing knowledge came in handy for once.

Ha Ha, that's a good one. Your fishin got you in hot water with the wife, so she divorces you & puts a lien on your boat, so you make it into a hot tub. just be sure you don't get scalded by the hot water next time you use it.
