It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news. My dear friend and fishing buddy has gone to be with the Lord.
He passed away this morning at 4:20 am.
Most of you know he was the maker of the “ old ugly” slab.. he will be missed by many, so long Johnny see ya soon..I love you

Sad news , Sand Johnny was a master in his craft . Fished along side his boat filled with clients many times on EM and PK.

God Bless Johnny Stevens. First time Brother Terry introduced me to him he gave me a box of Slabs and flies. His Quasimodo spinners were the best. He was just the absolute best.

He’s showing a new group of people how to catch fish in heaven! RIP Johnny. When I first got my boat, he met me and I bought a box of ole ugly slabs, he spent 20 minutes talking to me about how to use them, best time, best way, points and what to look for. Caught many off those ugly ole thangs.

Man, I hate to hear this. I have visited with him a several times and have always used the Ole Uglies and his flies to put Sand Bass in the boat. He was always full of knowledge, and a good guy in general. RIP sir.
