I couldn’t find any recent threads about running on Hubbard. I have driven over it a while ago but never have been on the lake. Are there hazards in the area between Hwy 66 and Hwy 30?

on the rockwall side north of I30, the eastern most part of the lake is the most safe to make the run up to 66. As you become more familiar with the lake, you can branch out and run the western side a little bit, but there's quite a bit of trees to nudge your lower unit on. Not much in the way of hazards south of 30, although it's been a couple years since I've had a boat out there.

I can attest to the fact that the south side isn't 100% clear. There are some extended shallow points with rock or one/two lone stumps if you forget where you are! I'm specifically talking about between Chandler's and the yacht club harbor (Rush Creek, iir).

Overall the pretty easy lake to get around on.

dont follow TDR2! man, he had a heck of a time running up north. If you follow Tiltman... you will lose your lower unit. He runs through the trees, but for good reason. He designed the beast to do it in. I "kind of" miss fishing Hubbard. I may venture out there next week. Lavon was dumping into Hubbard this morning, the river between the two was roaring at 6:45am.

man I do miss that mudhole. Had many great times out there. I'm sure it's still got a couple swimmers in there.

Thanks for the replies. Gonna go try it next Monday or Wednesday. I will try to find a path from Hwy 66 down to Hwy 30.

What is it like north of 66? Is there a path up to the creeks?

What is it like north of 66? Is there a path up to the creeks? From the golf course point: Run between the concrete block and the skinny stickup then 45 towards the bank, run 5 feet or so off the bank until you get to the next point just past the golf green. Now run out 50-75 yards off the bank and you'll have to make a slight turn to your port when you come to the split in the trees, not the south split that's the "false split", the north one. It used to be marked with a solar yard lamp on the south tree and a an orange marker on the north tree. Now just run towards the powerlines, kind of in a straight line. When you get about 150 yards from the powerlines you want to make a 35-45 degree angle towards the skinny kind of bent tree on your left and go aprrx 25 feet to north of it. Now make a "semi circle" or "crescent moon" route towards the mouth. Be sure you come in on the west side of the small forked tree (east side will run of water and a few honkers there) that will put you in the old river channel. Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies. Gonna go try it next Monday or Wednesday. I will try to find a path from Hwy 66 down to Hwy 30. Headed south, come under the bridge and swing wide left. Head towards the docks clear of the visible (and Navionics Marked) timber and then bend back in towards the marina. Basically you're running the deep flat east of the river levee. There is a tighter route on the west side, but this is the easy way. Something like this...

Thank You, David! Perfect information. just stay 150-200 yards east of the standing timber you will see to your west. There is quite a bit between the standing stuff and that line that you cannot see. Also don't venture too far east, there are several isolated stands of timber on that flat.
