I'll celebrate any holiday where there's beer, BBQ, and 10 % off linens and towels.
Seriously, none of this effects my schedule or pay. Why fret over cr@p we don't control. This If it creates a block party I'm down.

So many bleeding hearts on here. I can assure you that nobody thinks slavery was a good thing. Thank you to halfof the people on the thread stating the obvious, and probably using Google to even know what it meant. . Now , do we believe it should be a holiday? I think that's the question.
Our kids don't learn history these day. This is all following suite of the last year or so . They first said let's tear down history and erase it . Now its, let's make a holiday . Parents stand by with their hands in their pockets. Our poor children and the World they're being gifted

With a little more thought, they should have gone for a Monday or a Friday, ...Holidays with dates attached can fall on any day.
Three days weekends are best...
