A good friend of mine died about 10 years ago now. His wife insisted his friends wear Hawaiian garb to his funeral AND drink a few beers for him in the parking lot. This guy wore Hawaiian shirts, shorts and flipflops whenever he could. We were really shocked when we got there in our Hawaiian outfits he was dressed in a suit. I think his mother (who was still alive at the time) wanted him in a suit.

We did pop a few beers for him in the parking lot.

^^^This. Learn to dress yourself or marry someone who will tell you what to wear.

For the funeral, wear what you think the deceased would want you to wear.

I concur, same with belt and the belt should be the same color as the boots/shoes. And I don’t own a suit. I wear jeans, boots, button down and sports jacket for funerals and weddings.

I like to ask what the deceased would have worn to my funeral - best way to pay respects to him/her (although not wearing a dress ) smile

Wear the nicest of what you own. Funerals are not for the deceased.

Boots, pressed jeans, nice shirt, jacket. That's my go to. I'm more than happy to never have to wear it again.

Paying respect to one whom has passed has no dress code. You being there is what counts.
