A friend just bought an aluminum boat. He was thinking about mounting the transducer in the hull. I told I do not think it will work well on an aluminum boat.

not likely, the aluminum will block the signal.

call garmin support and check.

As a Lund owner, I can tell you shoot thru will not work. Get a transom saver and use silicone to glue it to the transom closest to the drain hole. Then screw the transducer onto the transom saver.

I saw his unit today. It has downscan so any thought of putting it in the hull is out.
