Dressing up for me is my newest jeans and if you're lucky I won't be in a band shirt. I do own a nice black suit for sending loved ones on their way. But can't find a pair of dress shoes that are actually comfortable. So a question for the OT. Since I do have a brand new pair of Ariats. Would those be acceptable to wear with a suit? They are brown not black.

I went to a funeral a month ago and wore my brown Ariat work boots with chinos and dress shirt.

I am the shoe czar of the OT. Do not wear brown shoots with your black suit. That will look awful.

Is there acceptable attire these days????
Old school side of me, says everything should match. brown shoes doesn't look good with black unless its an accent color, shirt, etc.
Now if you have very nice new pair of dark denim Levis, the brown boots and a black shirt will definitely match.

Sounds like a good excuse to invest in a pair of black boots for special occasions.

I feel you dress according to what the guest of honor would prefer....
mine will be country casual or basic biker.
Just want to make folks smile, and spit coffee on their keyboard.

Get with new guy here and buy some black boots from him. If you wear brown boots with black suit you will be the focus of said funeral and not the deceased.

I kinda have the same issue. I have a real nice pair of Luchesse brown boots that really don’t go with a black suit. A new pair of jeans with the dress shirt and boots should be fine. When my grandmother passed I knew she always loved when we were dressed up so I rented a tux to respect her.
I hate photobucket.

I actually do have some nice black Levi's. I thought about wearing instead of the slacks.

Being a member of the PGR I have been to hundreds and hundreds of funerals over the past 11 years. Apparently there is not a dress code for this type of event. I've seen guys in suits, shorts with tee-shirts and flip flops, and everything in between. I've seen females in black dresses, and very low cut short, short dresses - so short that they probably couldn't bend over with exposing themselves.
Wear whatever you are comfortable with. You'll fit right in.
Family is everything! Life is precious. We don’t have forever. We have now. This moment. We can choose to love our lives now.

They still have Payless ? Just go grab a pair a black cheapos dress shoes to go with the suit . That’s how I’ve always done it . Or go all out and rent the whole suit . It will usually come with shoes tie ect. Or thrown on your jeans nice boots and a nice button up black shirt .

I will never feel I have a place to tell another man what he should wear if that man is not employed by me. There are all kinds of people out here, I’m one that doesn’t want to judge others on what they are able or want to wear at a funeral. Mine is just another opinion, I say do what YOU feel is ok.
What has happed to you does not define who you are-
HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!
