Take a minesweeper, tons of floating debris, and a pretty good current too. We marked fish everywhere in the main river channel, but couldn't entice them to bite. Shad were tough to get, at 5 o clock in the morning, around marinas, and in shallower coves. 6 to 8 foot range seemed to be the choice. After the sun came up a little, they retreated to underneath huge floating debris piles, by marinas and docks, making them nearly impossible to catch. If you need bait, get there well before sunrise.

Just after sunrise we marked quite a few under the 377 bridge, and were going to come back and fish it. Went back 30 minutes later, and they were outta there.
