2002 Mercury Mountaineer, seems to have very limited air flow on the ac ,, cold, however air flow,,,Are there filters that may need servicing ?

You may want to google and see if that particular model has a cabin air filter, if it does and it's never been changed I would bet money that is the culprit.

Is the low flow only on the AC setting?

Not good. Seems there is a common problem with a door breaking off and blocking the air flow. This video shows A "FIX" you may try.

All seems ok, pulled the main air filter, not bad, cleaned it, seems to have added a bit.

Should have fully explained the prob., My Wife rides in this vehicle VERY seldom, she rode a few days ago, and the ac prob suddenly appeared...... nuff said,,, thanks

Check your air intake at cowling for debris. You may also have critters making nests. I have seen pics of filters with mouse nests on them.

I found this with my Tundra in the fan area near filter

There is a "flap" in a rectangle box do-hickey under the dash that probably fell off inside that box restricting the air flow.
