Dumb this down for me.... I have been basically a recreational fisher my 53 yr life ... growing up ... did the summer lakes ... early morning shallow.... then go deep with worms or crappie fish... then took hiatus to coach and teach baseball for about 15 years... then start getting back into bass fishing.. start hitting ponds in the local area.. then start getting hooked on MLF and BASS streaming tournaments and see professional anglers fishing mid day in shallow water at times? Again over simplifying I am sure but today I saw some guys at Ray Roberts fishing shallow about noon? Is is the shade and bushes etc? This is an ask for some general educations. Hot weather shallow? When is that a combination to work?

There are fish shallow all year, there are fish deep, and there are transitional fish. The shallow fish relish the enhanced cover and ambush opportunities of new water. The transitional fish are somewhat delayed in their migrations on some lakes. You also have to realize that many of those shallow areas are near the deep water spots. In my observations, they were really targeting main lake points, but were working the back sides of them with the brush rather than the deeper edges.

Agreed.

I've caught them really good in 92 degree water in July in 2' of water around heavy cover. The key is shade & cover when fishing shallow in hot weather.

Plus water temps really aren’t that high yet. We have been unseasonably cool until this last week.
