You can generate more pee by drinking more beer..

Last time I got stuck by a small channel cat, I spent 4 days in the hospital. It seems there was a nasty bacteria in the water that was basically injected into my thumb by the fin. (like a hypodermic needle) It went right into the joint and within 24 hours I was running a fever of 104+! My thumb was the size of a soda can and just as smooth too. LOL! I can laugh about it now, but that potent antibiotic they put into the IV was terrible. I told them twice to just cut off the thumb if it meant getting that !%$@#!ing IV out of my arm! I don't think the belly slime would have helped in that situation.

Rubbing the slime from a catfish on the wound/puncture only keeps any bacteria and also puts some into the sight. Squeeze below the sight to make the wound bleed as much as it will to flush the wound out. Cleanse with rubbing alcohol or better, hydrogen peroxide.

keep a bottle of hand sanitizer in your tackle box. it does not completely stop the pain but it dose help for me. just squirt some on the "sting" and rub it in real well, repeat if needed, it reduces the amount of pain by about half for me
SHUT-UP AND FISH

The only real bad part about a catfish sting is when the fin goes completly through your fingers or that skin in between your index and thumb.....You have to cut the fin off and pull it through. Usually beer was the reason for it so you all know what the cure for it was. Beer and more fish, it just kinda takes some gettn used to..Catfishing and gettn stung is a fact..Take your panties off and be a man. HAHAHAHAHAH Just playn

Don't just be a man, be a smart man. Take a first aid kit, some soap to clean 99% of germs. Disinfectant soap, alcohol, even Dr Tisners mouth wash will clean the cut. Let it burn or hurt a little, but keep it clean. Slime from the catfish might work 99 times out of a hundred, I am not sure...but does anyone want to be that one in a hundred that loses a finger, hand, or leg?
Ever wonder why they do not keep catfish in an aquarium at the emergency room for treating any kind of wound at all? Be smart in caring for such wounds, especially if it is your children that are finned.

If you will read "monster in the lake", I was the one who jumped in the lake with a snake to see what was going on. Also, I went noodling with my husband this week. Stupid maybe, but no guts, no glory. No, I prefer to act like the WOMAN I am and not whimp out like a man.
